Chaney, Dorothy Frances (MULLIS)

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, BLOOMFIELD, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, November 25, 1915,Volume XXXIX, Number 2, Page 4, Column 4, “OBITUARY. Chaney.” [Transcribed March 25, 2003 from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]

Dorothy Frances MULLIS was born near Scotland, Greene County, March 22, 1852, and died November 1, 1915, in the home they had so long occupied near Mineral.

She was converted and united with the M. E. Church when twelve years old. She was married to Hugh CHANEY January 14, 1869.

Six children—four girls and two boys were born to these parents—Dora SKINNER, of Bloomfield; Maria, (deceased); George, of Mineral; Ella HUTTON, of Vicksburg; Ross (deceased;) and Mae SIMMONS, of BLOOMFIELD.

The seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, the husband, brothers, sisters, relatives and scores of sympathizing friends mourn her departure.

Aunt Doll, as she was familiarly called, lived a pure simple religious life for forty-six years; was a devoted companion, a loving mother and grandmother; an esteemed neighbor and friend.

For eighteen months she was a constant sufferer, but she was ever patient and had implicit faith in a Dear and Loving Savior who doeth all things well.

The funeral services were conducted at the Mineral M. E. church, Tuesday, conducted by Rev. R. W. FISH. Interment at Mt Zion cemetery.
