Effie died at the Nehalem Valley Care Center March 27, 2008. She
was 93.
Effie received her education in Palatka, Fla. She was very
athletic, and in her youth she enjoyed swimming and high diving.
Effie moved to the Northwest in 1940 and resided in Portland, where

Effie was a friend to everyone and never knew a stranger. She
enjoyed family, cooking, fishing and gardening. One of her hobbies
was growing flowers, and for some time she maintained flower
