Mullis, Mabel Rhodes

Mabel Rhodes Mullis

Mrs. Mullis, age 89, of Charlotte, died April 13, 2010 at Lake Park Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail, NC.

She was born August 8, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Colonel Leonard and Ola Lee Black Rhodes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward (Pete) Mullis, brothers, Edgar, Howard, Willie, John and Lawrence Rhodes and sisters, Pauline McCorkle, Kathleen Seagraves and Mildred Rhodes.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean Tansey and husband, Bill of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren, Tad Sherrin of Charleston, SC, Sandra Lyle of Westminster, SC, and Pamela Carter of Spring Lake, NC and great grandchildren, Natasha and Austin Lyle and Mikayla Beach, great-great grandchildren, Jayden and Brooklyn Lyle and a sister, Louise Pruitt of South Jordan, UT.

A graveside service will be at 12:00 Noon Thursday, April 15 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, conducted by her pastor, Charles Foushee, of Ridgeview Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, 7700 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28214 of to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dear grandma, this is sandra sorry I was not thier when you passed , I know u moved on to a better place, I will miss u deeply and I will see u again someday, your always in my heart. I wish u could of seen my 2 granddaughters, someday you will , when u see my dad tell him i miss and love him. Geraldine, we are so sorry to learn of Mabel’s passing. She was Our Mother’s (Doris) roommate at Weddington Park. Mabel was the sweetest lady and she was a such a blessing to be around. We know you will miss her dearly as you were always so very good to Mabel. You and your family always saw that she had anything that she needed and wanted. May God bless you and your family.
