CHICKAMAUGA — Herman Dwight “Boss” Barrett, 76, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2007.
He was born in Chattooga County, Ga., to the late James Russell and Effie Lee McGraw Barrett. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed flying, riding motorcycles, fixing all sorts of items and working on his farm. He retired from National Cylinder Gas Co./Chemtron/Liquid Air after 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Lee Barrett and James Harley “Buck” Barrett.
He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Ethel Irene “Renie” Brown Barrett; daughters and son-in-law, Doris Barrett, Susan and Larry Mann; sons and daughtersin-law, Gary and Hongkee, Jerry and Donna Barrett, all of Chickamauga, Ga.; sisters, Nell Mullis of Chickamauga, Betty Mann, of Chattanooga; brothers, George Barrett, Charles Barrett, both of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Yack Barrett, Shannon Stevens, Kristy Walls, Jamie Jacobs, Denny Barrett, Jerry “Bubba” Barrett, Jenna Barrett; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Stevens, Brice Barrett, Beau Barrett, Caleb Walls, Brady Jacobs; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at the residence with the Rev. Todd Smith officiating.
Burial will follow on the family farm in Chickamauga.
The family will receive friends at Mr. Barrett’s house after noon today and after 10 a.m. Monday until the service.
