Beatrice J. “Betty” Mullis

Beatrice J. “Betty” Mullis, 86, of Manchester, Iowa, died at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, on Thursday, July 16, 2015. She was born on November 24, 1928, at Zwingle, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Lena (Seiverding) Rave. Betty graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1947.

On October 20, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Sylvester “Jake” Mullis at Farley, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Betty and Jake farmed together at Farley for a short time, before moving to Greeley, where they continued to farm. After retirement, they moved to Manchester where they have resided for the past 33 years.

Betty will be remembered as one who loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and walking her beloved dog Snoopy. Betty was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Jake; her four children, Audry Anderegg of Manchester, Dave (Mary Ann) Mullis of Greeley, Ann (Dan “Boone”) Schulte of Manchester, and Karen (Kim) Harbaugh of Manchester; 18 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Norma Rave of Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Danny, in infancy; son-in-law, Jim Anderegg; and three siblings, Gib and John Rave, and Evelyn Boyer.

Visitation Service:
Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, Iowa. There will be a 1:30 p.m. Scripture Service.
