Charles Buren Mullis

MOUNT HOLLY – Charles Buren Mullis, 88, of 421 Copeland Park, died Monday, February 21, 2011.

He was born in Gaston County son of the late Jessie Monroe Mullis and Laura Jane Auten Mullis.

He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers. He was retired from the Mecklenburg County School System where he was a carpen-ter. He was a member of Goshen Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Gladys Haigler Mullis; one daughter, Kimberly Mullis Olmo and husband James of Mount Holly; one son, Charles Eric Mullis of Mount Holly; one step-daughter, Deborah Freeman Randall and husband Mike of Iron Station; one step-son, James Edward Freeman and wife Pamela of Sherrills Ford; three granddaughters, Kristi Leigh Hildebran and husband Timothy, Chasity Paige Harris and husband Freedom and Sarah Elizabeth Burnett, all of Mount Holly; three great granddaughters, Kaleigh Robin Bridges, Caitlyn Paige Dyar, Kinsley Grace Hildebran; one great grandson, David Luke Wisnefsky; one sister, Lunie Cope of Mount Holly.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Mullis will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Goshen Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. William Calvert officiating.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, at the Church and at other times will be at the home of Kimberly and James Olmo, 212 Rose St. Mount Holly.

Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly is in charge of the arrangements.
