Donald Ray “Bob” Coxey

Mr. Donald Ray “Bob” Coxey, 66, of 2122 Bertha Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at Victory Temple in Concord. Interment with full military honors will be conducted at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The Rev. Gary Posey and the Rev. Joe Rahme will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.

Born October 2, 1936, in Gastonia, NC, he was a son of the late John Albert Coxey and the late Docia Cross Coxey. Mr. Coxey retired in 1981 as a GMG1 from the US Navy where he served for 21 years. He later worked in the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One and retired in 1989. He was a member of Victory Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mullis Benfield Coxey; four step-daughters, Debbie Eutsler of Salisbury, Sue Estep and Deana Burris, both of Concord, Trina McGuire of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Marcella “Sis” Walters and Rebecca “Kookie” Benfield, both of Kannapolis; three brothers, Cecil Coxey of Asheville, Terry “Mickey” Coxey of Kannapolis; Robert “Buddy” Coxey of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Melissa Hooker, Wesley Allman, Nathan Burris, Tyler Burris, Aaron McGuire, Brittany McGuire and Ceirra McGuire; one great-grandchild, Devon Hooker; eight nephews and seven nieces.
