KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Lee Doyle “Pop” James, 85, went to his heavenly home Monday, Dec. 17, 2007. Called Lee by work associates and Doyle by family, Doyle joins his beloved wife, Lillie Belle Burgess James, who passed away Sept. 1, 2007. Doyle and Lillie Belle were married 59 years.
The service will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, 2 p.m. at Enochville Church of God, where he was a member for over 40 years. The service will be officiated by the Rev. David Shoemake, the Rev. Bryan Corl, and the Rev. Keith Allen.
Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with full military honors. The grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born in Madison County, Ga., Doyle was the son of the late William Cleveland James and Evie Ann Scarboro James. Doyle was also preceded in death by one sister, Bertie James Macomson,and five brothers, Carrice, Reppard, Felton, Odell, and Otis. Doyle retired after 33 years with FieldCrest Cannon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Doyle enjoyed catching and frying fish, yard work and gardening. Doyle will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, sisters-in law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Doyle is survived by six children and their spouses, Barbara (David) Lisenby, Eddie (Roxann) James, David (Pam) James, Brenda (Rick) Farmer, Betty (Tim) Hoce and Janet (David) Gibson; grandchildren, Stacy (Tim) Woodward, Kyle Lisenby, Josh Lisenby, Cliff Jenkins (Stephanie Mullis), Jared Hoce, Justin Hoce, Kirk Gibson, Cody Gibson, Ashley Gibson, Bryan (Shanda) Corl, Aaron Farmer, Dale Farmer, Trish Clodfelter, Mike (Brandi) Rutan, and Hollie Gibson; great-grandchildren, Matthew Woodward, Chance Woodward, Noah Jenkins, Ashley Farmer, Triston Farmer, McKenzie Farmer, Brittany Farmer, Christopher Farmer, Abigail Farmer, Micah Clodfelter, Weston Clodfelter, Seth Rutan, Jakob Young, McKenzie Plott, and Jacob Werdin; sisters, Anne Strickland and Irelle Thompson; and sisters-in law, Margaret James, Berthene Horne, and Irene Hendrix.
