Edith Townsend Mullis, 76, of Fort Valley passed away after a lengthy illness on November 26, 201 6. She was born May 11, 1940 in Madison, Florida. The family will receive guests at 11 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Fort Valley United Methodist Church and will celebrate her life there at noon. Disposition of her ashes will be private.
Edith loved working with her hands. She was a talented painter who also loved gardening and was a member of the Camellia Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. She was a longtime member of Fort Valley United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class. Edith had a sharp wit and when necessary an even sharper tongue.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Townsend; previous husband, Sammy Fowler and son, Gerald Fowler.
She is survived by her husband, Marion P. (Butch) Mullis; her mother, Edith E. Townsend; sisters, Janie Ross and Ruth Jones; brother, John Townsend; daughter, Sandra Y. Bredlow and son, Mark T. Fowler. She is also survived by grandchildren, Stephanie(Justin) Simpson, Kenny Fowler, Kimberly(Will) Wilson, Clifton(ShelIey) Fowler, Paul Fowler, Julianne Fowler and 14 great grandchildren and close family friend, Onita Hughes.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to the FVUMC Hospitality Committee. Rooks Funeral Home of Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
