Mrs. Spencer, 78, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away on Nov. 27, 2011.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1933, in Mecklenburg County, NC, to Henry Walker and Blondell Earp Mullis.
Hazel was a life-long resident of Mint Hill.
She worked as a machinist at Atlantic Envelope Company off Monroe Road in Charlotte for thirty-three years.
She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Mint Hill.
Mrs. Spencer’s life centered around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her church.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur, Mint Hill, NC; three children, Jimmy (Patricia Dulin) Carpenter, Matthews, NC; Rusty (Amanda) Carpenter , Mint Hill; and Sherry Carpenter Bunch, Matthews, NC; five grandchildren, Scott, Billy, and Jeff Carpenter, Joya Cain, and Jonathan Carpenter; and seven great grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends on Wed., Nov. 30, 2011, from 1-2 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m. Reverend Joe Mullis and Reverend Bill Saylor will officiate. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery in Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Carpenter; her brother, Herman Mullis; and her sister, Helen Heyd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Hazel’s memory be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 6335 Wilson Grove Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227-4229, or to the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Dept., 8313 Fairview Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227.
