I pay for this site out of my own pocket. It can get a bit costly. Currently, the Ancestry subscription used to find records is in excess of $300+ a year. The web server and software are around $100 a year. My research time is priceless. All this is provided for free to you.
I am always looking for Angels to help, especially editors to help clean up some of the articles and the data. Contact me and I will gladly create an admin account for you.
Of course, monetary donations are always welcome. You can buy me a cup of coffee.
Software Used
Internet technology has come a long way in a short time. When I first started, I was handwriting individual pages that contained my genealogy information. I had about 2000 pages. That was a lot of work.
Nowadays this work takes a fraction of that time. I use WordPress as the base software for this site. It has come a long way in the past few years and constantly evolving which keeps me constantly evolving with upkeep of this site. I write some of the code for this site to get things to work how I want. WordPress is open-source software in which I can change and tweak the code as needed.
The database is TNG – The Next Generation of Genealogy Software. This is not open source. I have to change some of its codings to make it work properly and play nicely with WordPress.
I would like to someday write a fully integrated Genealogy Content Management System for WordPress. Maybe someday if I find enough time and gain some better programming skills.
Browser Compatability
The website has been designed to conform with HTML and CSS standards as outlined by the World Wide Web (WWW) consortium. This site will be best viewed in a standards-compliant browser.
Images and Documents
Images on this site are compressed in order to render the site as fast as possible and to save money due to bandwidth restrictions. Documents should print out okay, but photos will not be that great. If you want a high-resolution photo just drop me a line and I will email it to you individually if I have it.
I have also recently started putting large watermarks over most family photos because I have found sites selling my photos and research without my consent.
