James Allen Mullis

Mr. James Allen Mullis, 75, of Mayo, FL passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. James was born November 21, 1937 in Cross City, FL, to James and Bertie (Driggers) Mullis.

Mr. Mullis was preceded in death by his father James William Mullis and his mother Bertie Driggers Mullis, an infant son, 1 brother, Earl Mullis, and 2 sisters, Sallie Stone and Betty Hartzog.

Mr. Mullis was of the Christian Faith and was a member of Mayo First Assembly of God. He was a veteran of the US Army and during his service was stationed in Korea. He owned and operated the Exxon Service Station in Mayo for 20 years and Badcock Furniture in Scottsboro and Fort Payne, AL for 10 years. He was a wonderful father who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Johnson Mullis, Mayo, FL, 1 son, Warren Mullis, of Mayo, 3 daughters, Misty Shows, and husband Billy, of Mayo, Kristie Putnal, and husband Franklin, of Jacksonville, FL, and Beverley Fountain, and husband David, of Mayo, 1 brother, Jesse Mullis, of Mayo, 3 sisters, Minnie Kate Hatch, of Mayo, Vonice Land and Allie Lou Corbin, both of Old Town, FL, 1 half-brother, Wayne Mullis, of Live Oak, 2 half-sisters, Angela Mullis and Sheila Mullis, 8 grandchildren, Colby, and wife Tracy, Whitney, Ashton, Sydney, Makayla, Leah, and Haley, 2 step-grandchildren, Kassidy and Austin, 1 great-grandchild, Londyn, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Mayo First Assembly of God with Bro. Robbie Johnson officiating and Bro Craig Hartzog and Bro. Kenny Sullivan assisting. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service also at Mayo First Assembly of God. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P.
