Jennifer Leah Slaten Moseley, age 64, died January 18, 2012 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO, after a very short battle with small cell lung cancer.

She was born February 9, 1947 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She grew up in Caruthersville, MO until moving to Sikeston, MO in the fifth grade. She was a member of the Sikeston High School class of 1965. She worked at Missouri Delta Medical Center, was an activity director at Shuffits Nursing Home, and was a babysitter for several local families throughout her life. She loved to read, cook, watch the grandkids, and had a great group of friends she loved very much. Pets were a passion of hers-Conrad, Buddy, and Abbey were also her children.

On August 20, 1966 she married Michael Wayne Moseley who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: a son, Michael Moseley of Oxford, MS and his girlfriend, Hannah Miller; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Kyle DeKriek and Laurie and Andy Eason all of Sikeston; one sister and brother-in-law, Benna Kay and Paul Johnson of Caruthersville, MO; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mack and Shirley Slaten of Sikeston and her baby brother, Danny Slaten of Scott City, MO. She had three grandchildren who will miss Ma Ma very much, Marley DeKriek, Dakota Ray, and Landry Eason.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Franklin Slaten, and her mother, Frances Mullis Slaten. Also preceded by two special pets, Casey and Baby.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Ray, Chad Slaten, Brett Slaten, Andy Miederhoff, Timmy Miederhoff, and Andy Eason.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul King, Dean McDougal, Dale Taylor, Kyle DeKriek, and Paul Johnson.

A mother holds her children’s hand for a while…their hearts forever.
