Joyce Francis Mullis

Joyce F. Mullis, 90, of East Palatka passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness.

Joyce was born at the family residence in Florahome and had been a lifelong resident of Putnam County, growing up in Florahome and later living in Palatka and East Palatka. She was a Putnam County pioneer family descendant and was a 1945 graduate of Melrose High School. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and a caring friend to many. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and being a homemaker. Her love was her family. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Palatka.

Preceding her in death were her husband, J.D. Mullis; her father, James H. Grainger; her mother and step-father, Ethel and George McGrath; and three brothers, Adell Grainger, Harry Grainger and Alex McGrath.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sophie Ducote of East Palatka, and Pete and Barbara Anne Mullis of Franklin Lakes, NJ; four grandchildren, Kate Ducote (Ryan Torboli), Marissa Mullis, Hunter Mullis and Shane Mullis; two great grandchildren, Andrew Torboli and Ella Torboli; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5th at Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka with Pastor Willie McKinnon officiating.
