Man accused of defacing Gaston town’s new mural

STANLEY, N.C. – A Stanley man turned 21 facing charges of vandalism.

Town residents noticed graffiti on the town mural of a train Tuesday and a police investigation turned up a suspect.

Police cited Kenneth James Mullis on Tuesday on three separate counts of injury/defacing property. Mullis, who turned 21 on Wednesday, admitted to the offenses, according to police.

One of the items defaced included the town’s new train mural located at 100 S. Main St. The vandalism was a series of symbols marking the painting.

Mullis lives at 816 N. Buckoak St., according to police.
