Mark Mullis

KANNAPOLIS – Mark B. Mullis, age 58, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, Concord, after years of declining health.

He was born Sept. 20, 1956, in Iredell County, the son of the late Gile Edward Mullis and Dolly Coleene Benton Mullis.

In earlier years, Mark was self-employed in the pump service business associated with well drilling for 29 years. He had been disabled since 2001. He was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church, Kannapolis.

He is remembered by family and friends for his love of fishing and NASCAR racing in earlier times.

Survivors include his son, Gile C. Mullis of Kannapolis; his loving companion, Virginia Odom of Kannapolis; three brothers, Reid Mullis, Vic Mullis and Edwin Mullis, all of Kannapolis; a stepsister, Selena Cobb of Salisbury; and stepmother Audrey Mullis of Kannapolis.

Arrangements: The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at Bethpage United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Mark Portis and Rev. Duane Melton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.
