Maybelle “Mabel” Barfield Mullis died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Blue Grass Personal Care Home. Family will greet friends beginning at 12:30PM on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2:00PM in Oaklawn Cemetery, 720 South Camellia Boulevard in Fort Valley, with Rev. Ed McQueen officiating.
Born in Fort Valley to the late W. B. Barfield and Annie Lora Watson Barfield, Mrs. Mullis was a member of First Baptist Church of Conyers, retired from Peach County Hospital and a former member of First Baptist Church of Fort Valley.
Survivors include her children, Gordon Mullis (Linda) of Douglasville, Phil Mullis (Sandy) of Oxford, Jo Anne Wallace of DeBary, Florida; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Joan Law of Macon; and a brother, Barney Barfield (Susan) of Perry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mullis and a grandchild, Lance Mullis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
