Mr. Melvin Leon Mullis, of Union Cemetery Rd, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House.
His funeral will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Heritage Baptist Church, 274 Honeycutt Dr., officiated by Revs. Terry Cruse and Charles Carver. Burial will follow the service at the National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Melvin was born September 21, 1941 in Concord to the late William Hoyle Mullis and Panthey Baucom Mullis. He was retired from Walmart and formerly worked as a plumber. Melvin served for 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, during and after the Vietnam Conflict. He was also a member of Heritage Baptist Church.
Melvin is survived by his wife Diane Tart Mullis; daughters, Michelle Dillard, Carol Austin, and Linda Blalock; sons, Melvin Mullis, Jr., Martin Mullis, and Mike Mullis; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and brother, William Mullis, Jr.
