Bessie George Kennedy Mullis, 88, of Gastonia, N.C., died Thursday, May
24, 2007, at Belaire Health Care Center in Gastonia.–She had been in
declining health for eight years and seriously ill for one month.
She
was born September 16, 1918, in Clover, S.C., to the late William
Lawrence Kennedy and Ila George Kennedy.–She was a member of Sandy
Plaines Baptist Church in Gastonia and the Senior Citizens group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Mullis, and a sister, Mary Lee Mullis.
Survivors
include three daughters, Glenda Thompson of Gastonia, N.C., Donna Crist
and husband, Steve of Poolesville and Deborah Goetz and husband Donald
of–Lake Anna, Va.; two sons, Robert Mullis and wife Carol of
Clarksburg and Alan Mullis and wife Christi of Poolesville; nine
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be
conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Little River Baptist Church
by the Rev. Joe Lawing. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home.
