Mr. Charles E. Mullis, Sr., age 49, of 28 Old Airport Road, Rome, died Saturday afternoon, March 13, 1999, at his residence following a short illness.
A native of Laurens County, Georgia, he was born September 27, 1949, a son of Mrs. Nell Mullis Cofield and the late Ernest Mullis. He and his family moved to Rome about 3 1/2 years ago coming here from Wrightsville. Mr. Mullis was a quality control technician for Image and Mohawk Carpets. An avid ” Star Trek” fan and flower gardener, he was of the Pentacostal Faith. His father, Ernest Mullis preceded him in death in 1997.
Mr. Mullis is survived by his loving wife, the former Debra Henderson, to whom he was married on December 7, 1974; a son, Charles E. Mullis, Jr. of Wrightsville; two daughters, Michele Mullis of Rome and Lori Carver of Dublin; two grandchildren, Charles Jonah Mullis and Daniel Carver; his mother, Mrs. Nell Cofield of Wrightsville; a sister, Gail Anderson of Wrightsville; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Overby of Rome; and a grandmother-in-law, Susie Brooks of Rome.
Funeral services for Mr. Mullis were on Tuesday afternoon, March 16, 1999, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Drake officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Gary Towe, Tommy Jones, Chad Jones, Terry Overby, John Drake, and Gerald Carver.
Funeral services arrangements for Mr. Charles E. Mullis, Sr., age 49, of Rome, who died Saturday afternoon, March 13, 1999, were under the direction of the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.
