Mullis, Jacqueline

PARIS – Jacqueline “Jackie” Mullis, age 78 of Paris, Illinois, formerly of Lyons, Indiana and Ashmore, Illinois, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in Paris Health Care Center, Paris, Illinois.


She was born December 20, 1930 in Paris, Illinois to the late John and Elsie Mae (Terrell) Haddix.


Jackie was a 1950 graduate of Paris High School. She was co-owner of J and J Furniture in Lyons, Indiana and was secretary for Mullis Trucking, also in Lyons, Indiana. She was a member of Ashmore Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, Illinois, and was a member of the Golden Gals. Her hobbies included playing games and cards, yard work, gardening, and flower gardening. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Mrs. Mullis first married Vernon Myer, he preceded her in death. November 10, 1996, she married Ernest Dale “Jake” Mullis in Coles City, Indiana; he preceded her in death in January 1999.


Survivors include two sons, Steven (Elizabeth) Myer of Greenfield, Indiana and William “Buck” (Judy) Mullis of Lyons, Indiana; one sister Joan Sullivan of Paris, Illinois; one brother John O. (Kay) Haddix of Paris, Illinois; daughter-in-law Diane K. Myer of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister-in-law Beverly Haddix of Vincennes, Indiana; her grandchildren, Joe (Julia) Myer of Avon, Indiana, Eleanor Myer of Tallahassee, Florida, Heather (Michael) Munday of North Richland Hills, Texas, Tyler Mullis of Lyons, Indiana, Ryan Mullis of Lyons, Indiana, and Jerrod Mullis of Mattoon, Illinois; her great grandchildren, Michael Munday, Matthew Munday, and Madison Munday; and her nieces and nephews, Laurie Ann Miller of Vincennes, Indiana, Rick Blanford of Paris, Illinois, Billy John McCord of Ashmore, Illinois, Dirk Haddix of Paris, Illinois, Tim Haddix of Paris, Illinois, Jeff Haddix of Paris, Illinois, Chris Haddix of Florida, Carol Blanford of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bob Blanford of Texas.


She was preceded in death by one son Dean Myer, one sister Geraldine McCord, and one brother Michael Haddix.


Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.


Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery.
