John W. Mullis, 85, of Nekoosa, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. The Rev. John Swing will officiate Burial will be in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
John was born June 25, 1925, in Oakland, Ill., to Wayner and Myrtle (Johnson) Mullis. He married Lavina Oltesvig on July 27, 1962, in Waukegan, Ill. She died June 25, 2007. John was a truck driver. For many years he was employed by Interstate Trucking of Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. His interests included camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time with his dog, Chico.
John is survived by two sons, John (Sue) Null of Brusly, La., and Wayne (Karen) Kniprath of Kewaskum; five grandchildren from Wisconsin, Teddy Kniprath, Dean (Jenny) Kniprath, Kenneth (Andrea)Banaszak, Nicolette (Danny) Work and Wendy (Tim) Edeler; three grandchildren from Louisiana, Lori, Dustin and Scott; 12 great-grandchildren from Wisconsin; nine great-grandchildren from Louisiana; and one sister, Martha White of Marshall, Ill. He is further survived by many loving family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Marlene Kniprath; three sisters, Bonnie, Marie, and Mary; and two brothers, Fred and Gary.
