Linda Freeman Mullis, 69, of Stanley, formerly of Charlotte, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Aug. 12, 2009, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Rex Gibbs. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
Mrs. Mullis was a lifelong artist who taught painting at Central Piedmont Community College and various local churches, where she began many lifelong friendships. Linda was an avid gardener who loved flowers and was a wonderful cook. She shared her gifts and talents with many. Linda was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte where she had many friends who have been a blessing to her and her family. Linda treasured her Double Ring Sunday School Class and many friends and was also a member of Circle No. 3. She enjoyed the time she and her family had at Blowing Rock. Mrs. Mullis was preceded in death by her father, Richard Tyler Freeman, and a brother, Larry Freeman.
Surviving Mrs. Mullis are Thomas Harry Mullis, her husband of 45 years; three children, Thomas Harry Mullis Jr. of Charlotte, Phillip Arthur Mullis and his wife, Sherrie, of Winston-Salem, and Andrew Tyler Mullis and his wife, Jenny, of Asheville; five grandchildren, Kathryn, Debra, Donald, Lauren and Ashley Mullis; her mother, Esther Freeman of Lexington; and a sister, Rebecca Essick and her husband, Casper, of Welcome.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Family Life Center, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC 28216 and Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC, 28092.
