Norma West Mullis, 69, of Fruitland Park, went to be with the Lord from her home Sunday, May 1, 2011.
Born in Mabscott, WV, she moved to Fruitland Park, FL from Miami, FL, to establish Calvary Baptist Church with her husband of 50 years, Pastor Robert A. Mullis, on Easter Sunday in 1962.
She was active in the community with several different occupations beginning with W.L.B.E. Radio Station with Wendy Husebo and then with the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce with Jack Pae. She taught business classes at Lake Christian School of Calvary Baptist Church. She attended Lake Vocational School at age 40 and received her LPN certification. She then worked for 25 years with several doctor’s offices until her retirement.
She lived her life as a wonderful testimony to her Lord as a Pastor’s wife. She was loved by her family, the community and her church family. We thank the Lord for her life.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Robert H. Mullis; sons, Robert “Bob” (Valerie) Mullis of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Jeffery “Scott” (Cindy) Mullis of Ayden, NC; mother, Garnett West of Fruitland Park, FL; sister, Roma Conn of Farmington Hills, MI; brother, Jack E. West of Lady Lake, FL and five grandchildren, Robby, Jennifer, Jeffery, Jared and Julia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, Fruitland Park. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, Fruitland Park with Pastor Kenneth Dembeck and Pastor Charles Couey officiating.
Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Fruitland Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3740 Eagles Nest Road, Fruitland Park, FL 34741.
