Mullis, Pauline Thomas

Pauline Thomas Mullis of Boulder died of cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at her home. She was 80.

 She was born Nov. 10, 1916 in Magazine, Ark. to Nathan Thomas and Ada Harrison Thomas. She married Clifford Mullis on July 10, 1942 in San Fernando, Calif. He died in 1973.

 She attended Arkansas State Teacher’s College in 1940, and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1957.

 She taught in Boulder Valley Schools from 1958 to 1970, in Bentonville (Arkansas) Schools from 1970 to 1972 and again in Boulder Valley Schools from 1972 to 1980, when she retired.

 She belonged to Mountain View Southern Baptist Church in Lafayette and the Colorado Retired School Employees Association.

 Survivors include two sons, Clifford T. Mullis of Lafayette and William R. Mullis of Pueblo; three sisters, Golda Phillips and Norma Allred of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Frieda Crowder of Dixon, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Southern Baptist Church, 700 East South Boulder Road, Lafayette. The Rev. William Archer will officiate. Services will conclude at 1 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, at staging area A.
