Mullis, Rex Devon

altSTANFIELD – Rex Devon Mullis, 69, of 14760 Hatley Burris Road, Stanfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church, Stanfield, with the Rev. Rick Brundin officiating.

The body will lie in state for 30 minutes at the church. Burial will be at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Mullis was born July 8, 1939, in Union County, the son of the late Barney Benson Mullis and the late Minnie Emily (Thomas) Mullis.

He had been employed as a truck driver for Cal-Maine Foods, Albemarle. He was a member of Indian Hill Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Savannah Mullis; and a brother, Warren Mullis. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Irene (Sides) Mullis of Stanfield; daughter, Kim Mullis of Stanfield; sons, Tod Mullis of Stanfield and Rodney Mullis of Richfield; daughter, Rexann (Mullis) Huneycutt of Locust; brothers, Glenn Mullis of Stanfield, Leroy Mullis and Archie Mullis, both of Cassatt, S.C.; sisters, Diane Page of Oakboro, Ruby Mullis of Stanfield and Rita Little of Oakboro.
