INDIAN LAND – Mr. Benjamin Clifford Mullis Sr., 78, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Carolina Medical Center in Pineville, N.C.
Services for Mr. Mullis will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Independent Bible Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, N.C., with Pastor Jason Coley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Wadesboro, N.C., Mr. Mullis was the son of the late Jonah Mullis and the late Mary Biley. He was a member of Independent Bible Baptist Church and worked at various trucking companies. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He loved fishing, racing, horseshoe pitching and other outdoor activities. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mullis was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Elizabeth Mullis; his son, Michael Mullis; and his daughter, Deborah Jean Wallace.
Mr. Mullis is survived by his son, Benjamin C. Mullis Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Fort Mill; his daughters, Denise Broome and her husband, Jamie, of Indian Land, Sherry Reed and her husband, Steve, of Catawba, and Mary Rodriguez and her husband, Francisco, of Shelby, N.C.; his sister, Mary Kay Griggs of Greenville, S.C.; his 14 grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the church prior to the service.
