Sarah Kathryn Mullis Obituary – Monroe, NC | ObitTree™

Sarah Kathryn Fowler Mullis of Monroe passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at Fairfield Manor in Marshville where she resided. Mrs. Mullis was born on April 28th, 1927 in Union County to the late Andrew Clarin and Rossie Helms Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James M. Mullis, and her three brothers, Harold, Paschal, and Jack Fowler.

Kathryn worked in accounting for the Mecklenburg County Agriculture Department for over 20 years. She and her husband were lifelong members of Memorial United Methodist Church. During that time, she served as their financial secretary. In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed working in her garden and growing flowers, as well as cooking and baking. She also enjoyed raising toy-breed puppies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Kathryn is survived by her brother, Hoyte and wife Peggy Fowler, and sisters, Christine Scott, Meldonia Simpson, and Remonia and husband Jesse McGee, all of Monroe. She is also survived by her daughter, Kimberly and husband Gene Trotter, and son, Trent and wife Jennifer Mullis, as well as her grandchildren, Trevor Trotter, Zachary Trotter and wife Tiffany, Wesley Trotter, Katy Trotter, Sarah Mullis and step grandchildren, Abby and Chloe Hash.

The visitation will be held on Monday, May 14th, 2018 at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Gordon Funeral Service in Monroe. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park (1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC) after the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Fairfield Manor in New Salem, Hospice of Charlotte, and Lynn Barringer, NP, for all of the love and care they provided to Mrs. Kathryn during her stay.
