TIFTON — Larry Franklin Schwalls, 63, of Tifton, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, with Father Lonnie Lacy officiating. The family will receive friends at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church social hall one hour prior to the service.
Born April 24, 1947, in Swainsboro to the late Charles F. Schwalls and Sarah Louise Neal Mullis, Mr. Schwalls was also preceded in death by one brother, Don Mullis, who died in 2004.
Mr. Schwalls lived most of his life in Tift County where he was an industrial engineer at Shaw Industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He attended Tift County Schools until entering the US Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon returning after his time in the Navy, he attended Ben Hill – Irwin Technical School.
Mr. Schwalls is survived by his wife, Patricia Marie Montgomery Schwalls; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Eric and Kimberly Whiddon Schwalls and Marshal and Jennifer Cone Schwalls, all of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Lara Lee and Matt Hickman, Jennifer Schwalls and Misty Johnson, all of Tifton; his 10 grandchildren; his four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Melvin and Marlene Mathis, Neal Mathis, Hank and Carolyn Mullis, and David and Robin Mullis, all of Tifton; and a special friend, Bruce Graff of Toccoa, Iowa.
