Scoggins, Gaston Jefferson

ROCK SPRING — Gaston Jefferson Scoggins, 89, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.


Mr. Scoggins was born June 25, 1918, in Laurence County, Ga., to the late Grover and Lillian Henson Scoggins. He was a welder with Combustion Engineering for over 20 years and a member of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Akins Scoggins, and several brothers and sisters.


Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn S. and Wally Bowman, of Brandon, Miss.; two sons and daughters-inlaw, W. Jeffrey and Darlene Scoggins, of Rock Spring, and Richard L. and Jeanne Scoggins, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sister, Letha Mullis, of Rock Spring; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren ; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Darlene Scoggins of Family Ministry Church officiating.


Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.


Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
