SHERRILLS FORD – Catawba County Sheriff’s Office investigators are searching for Dominic Reashonne Carr, who they suspect is the person who shot a man in Sherrills Ford last week.

Carr, 21, is also known as “Maui.” Investigators think he shot Derrick Mullis, 20, once in the back at Mullis’ home on Bach Drive on Friday. Maui is the brother of one of the people who lives at the home, said Chief Deputy Coy Reid with the sheriff’s office.

“We believe (Mullis) was shot over an argument,” Reid said, adding that the suspect shot Mullis using a .22 rifle.

Carolinas Medical Center, where Mullis was transported, did not have any information on Mullis.

Reid said Carr had been to the home on Bach Drive before.

Carr is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is a black male who is 5-feet 6-inches and weighs 160 pounds. He lives at 1535 Kingston Drive in Kannapolis, and could be in the Charlotte area.

Anyone with information about Carr is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 464-5241.
