Willie Dathalene Brasington Mullis

Willie Dathalene Brasington Mullis fondly remembered as “Dash” went quietly to be with her Lord on Monday, January 18, 2016.

She was born on January 23, 1933 in Bynum, NC to Mr. and Mrs. William R. Brasington.

She loved basketball and was nicknamed “Dash” for her agility and speed.

She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She served in the food industry and retired after thirteen years of dedicated service from the cafeteria at UNC Health Care of Chapel Hill and enjoyed serving others, and cooking for family who loved her famous “biscuits and gravy.”   She lived quietly and enjoyed ministering with song and Bible readings at nursing homes with her son.

She was lovingly cared for by the staff at Signature Health Care and her special roommate Doris Farrington.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who delighted in her “getting their rhinoceros.”

In addition to her parents, William Robert and Ruth Montgomery Brasington, her sister Miriam Winona “Wink” Brasington Chunn preceded her in death.  She is survived by her brothers Layden Brazington (Toni), Marion Brasington (Sandra); her children: Cynthia Echols (Charles), Joy Duckworth (Howard-“Butch”), Harold Mullis (Doris), and David Mullis (Cindi); her grandchildren:  Heidi, Charles III, Jessica, Will, Kari, Kimberly, Kurt, Stephanie, and Stephen; and her great grandchildren:  Samuel, Arden, Simone, Chelsea, Cylie, Ayden, Adam, Laiton, Branson, Draco, Ada, Odin, and Ryker “Dash.”    Her family celebrates her life and rejoices in her home going.  She will be greatly missed.
