Mrs. Velna Mullis Peele Brock, 84, of 301 McLaurin Ave. died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at her residence.<\/p>\n

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Jim Bumgardner. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.<\/p>\n

She is survived by her son, Dennis Peele<\/a> of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Jane Callahan<\/a> and husband, Frank <\/a>of Laurinburg and Doris P. Milligan<\/a> of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren, Keith Pickels, Tracy Sheppard, Samantha Sheppard, Kirt Callahan, Andy Callahan, John Callahan and wife, LeAnn, Casey Peele, and Carly Peele.<\/p>\n

Born July 1, 1918 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late O. C.<\/a> and Margaret Helms Mullis<\/a>. She was a retired bedspread inspector at Heritage Weavers.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Brock joined Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and was baptized on March 29, 1942, and later joined Middleton Heights Presbyterian Church on November 3, 1958. She became a member of Faith Presbyterian Church when it was formed from Middleton Heights in 1987. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and was a cook for their annual ingatherings. She is remembered as a wonderful mother, cook, and she enjoyed gardening.<\/p>\n

Memorials are requested for Faith Presbyterian Church building fund, 2220 Elm Ave., Laurinburg, NC 28352.<\/p>\n

Visitation will be 6 8 p.m. Tuesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.<\/p>\n
